Vaspery Quotes for Christmas Anarchists

Vaspery Quotes for
Christmas Anarchists

Here are some nice abrasive statements, worthy of memorization, that ring true with some of the chords struck so stringently here at Vaspers the Grate.

"What's a Christmas anarchist ?", you might, being bored already, persist in asking.

Just a gimmicky term, an act of desperation, a pathetic and senseless phraseological blunder to try to draw you to this post? Or is it yet another "secret Vaspers vocabulary" code phrase?

Check my Vaspers Vocabulary page to make sure!

VASPERY QUOTES

(1)

One of the chief factors in progress is the destruction of special privilege.

The essence of any struggle for healthy liberty has always been, and must always be, to take from some one man, or class of men, the right to enjoy power, or wealth, or position, or immunity, which has not been earned by service to their fellows.

--Theodore Roosevelt (speech in Osawatomie, Kansas, August 1910)

[Vaspers: This reminds me of how the Special Privilege of the MSM/Government/Religion information hegemony is being destroyed, rightfully so, by bloggers, podcasters, and other new media.]

(2)

Every age and generation must be as free to act for itself, in all cases, as the ages and generations which preceded it.

--Thomas Paine (The Rights of Man, 1791)

(3)

As we view the achievements of aggregated capital, we discover the existence of trusts, combinations, and monopolies, while the citizen is struggling far in the rear, or is trampled to death beneath an iron heel.

Corporations, which should be the restrained creatures of the law and the servants of the people, are fast becoming the peoples' masters.

--Grover Cleveland (Annual Message to Congress, 1888)

(4)

I am the poor white, fooled and pushed apart,
I am the Negro bearing slavery's scars,
I am the Red man driven from the land,
I am the immigrant clutching the hope I seek,
And finding the same old stupid plan
Of dog eat dog, of mighty crush the weak.

--Langston Hughes ("Let America Be Happy Again", 1938)

(5)

Remember always that all of us, and you and I especially, are descended from immigrants and revolutionists.

--Franklin D. Roosevelt (Speech to Daughters of the American Revolution, April 1938)

(6)

I hold it that a little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.

--Thomas Jefferson (Letter to James Madison, January 1787)

(7)

Honoring the identity and the special heritage of each nation in the world, we shall never use our strength to try to impress upon another people our own cherished political and economic institutions.

--Dwight D. Eisenhower (First Inaugural Address, January 1953)

(8)

Proclaim Liberty throughout all the Land
to all the Inhabitants thereof.

LEVITICUS 25:10

--Inscription on the Liberty Bell

(9)

Our policy is directed not against any country or doctrine, but against hunger, poverty, desperation, and chaos.

--George C. Marshall (Harvard University address, June 1947)

(10)

We must be willing to abridge ourselves of our superfluities, for the supply of others' necessities.

--John Winthrop (first governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony, in sermon aboard the Arabella, 1630).

Thin Q vary mulch, MaryBeth of the desert.

How's Sadie doing today?

If I had a digital photo of myself online, I'd add effects to it to make its head appear to dwarf Mount Rushmore, or something, because I like to experiment with things and thinks.

I'd go to Effects > Geometric > Warp > 80% strength/80% size/30 horizontal/50 vertical.
